ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to analyze the characteristics and scope of current classroom management in a Swedish elementary school. A theoretical model, constructed from the Swedish compulsory curriculum and international research on classroom management, will be applied to an analysis of two case studies that I conducted (Stensmo, 1995a). My definition of the tasks of classroom management, based on research in classroom management (Stensom, 1995a) is shown in Figure 7.1 (see Tuney et al., 1992). The Five Tasks of Classroom Management.
