ABSTRACT
Pete, a handsome but dumb teenager, has run away with Maria, an ex-schoolfriend. Pete has attacked Maria’s father during a bungled burglary attempt and may well have accidentally murdered him. The teenagers are both spending the night on the beach in a bird sanctuary. For both of them this is proving to be a night of bleakness as they both face the realisation that the reality of their lives is not as rosy as their daydreams.
