ABSTRACT

Donegal, 1820s. A local magistrate is killed and rumour spreads that it is the infamous Red Willie. Red Willie is actually a mask and legend has it that it is cursed and can turn the wearer to evil deeds. Fardy McHugh, a young peasant and maker of the illegal poitin, is suspected of being Red Willie. He goes on the run, determined to find the real murderer and clear his name.
