ABSTRACT
It is not easy to give a short report about contemporary Japanese architecture because there are so many kinds of architecture to be seen. It is as if the field was ablaze with a myriad of flowers. To begin with, therefore, I will describe some phenomena of contemporary Japanese architecture. Then I shall discuss certain characteristics of recent Japanese architecture. The buildings I mention are very recent. Even the oldest only goes back to 1980.
