ABSTRACT

Because the culture of the First People of America (the Native Americans), has been greatly affected by many changes in our world over the past 100 years, our old ways have been endangered. Our traditional stories educated and informed our people, young and old. Our stories taught us about our history, our origins. Our spiritual leaders and historians were honored for their ability to gently pass on valued information. They presented their families with epic stories and family songs that spoke with pride about our ability to keep the most important information of our past in the oral tradition that we could indeed pass down to coming generations. The most important qualities of our culture live through the dynamics of our old stories and our songs.
