ABSTRACT

Terrorism has become such an inescapable fact of life that it now falls into clear categories. Some terrorists are committed to a single cause such as anti-abortion, but far right political views or religious zeal motivates others. Terrorism crosses borders, too, with groups carrying out acts of violence on people and property in countries other than their own. Governments are known to sponsor some terrorists, although many groups operate alone. Terrorists organize themselves differently, depending on whether their base is urban or rural, just as the presence of terrorist violence affects citydwellers and countryfolk in dissimilar ways.
