ABSTRACT
Rapid growth in both rural and urban sectors of America is associated with substantial movement of farm people to the nonfarm sector of the economy. In fact, if the out-movement over the next 20 years were to be as great as that experienced in the past 20 years, there would presumably be no farm population by about 1985. Despite this tremendous out-movement, there remains chronic and continuing overcommitment of labor in American agriculture.
