ABSTRACT
Canada has a large land area devoted to dryland agriculture and faces major land degradation problems from soil erosion, acidity and salinization. This paper examines the magnitude of the problems and the economic costs of present levels of degradation; it also makes projections of these costs for 1984 to 2008.
