ABSTRACT
Miscanthus can be used as a raw material for energy production, building materials, geotextiles, paper and packing industries and as a plant substrate (Huisman et al., 1996; El Bassam, 1998). Each end use has specific raw material requirements related to dry matter content, shape, size and particle consistency. Harvest, transport and storage methods are determined by the end use of the harvested biomass and the need for year-round availability.
