ABSTRACT
The introduction of the new National Curriculum in England and Wales requires that teachers demonstrate a range of professional skills. Of particular importance are those related to keeping track of the progress and problems of all of their pupils including those with learning difficulties which affect reading, writing and spelling across the curriculum.
