Home to school is a long way: facing up to the issues of developing home–school alliances in rural areas

The hour and a half it takes to walk three miles when accompanied by a nine-year-old with a ‘yo yo’ walking style gives plenty of time for reflection, for example, some ungrateful thoughts about people who spend the weekend dismantling the Ford Capri which is the School Transport, and some anxious ones about whether it will be fixed by next week.
