ABSTRACT
The Liverpool Parent School Partnership (PSP) was established in 1979 with funds from central government’s Inner City Partnership Initiative. The White Paper, Policy of the Inner Cities , published in June 1977, emphasised the commitment to regenerating inner city areas by means of:
strengthening their economies and thereby the prospects of those who live in them;
improving their physical fabric and making the environment more attractive;
alleviating social problems;
securing a new balance between the inner areas and the rest of the city region, in terms of population and jobs.
