ABSTRACT
This chapter will address constructivist principles of learning, as these ideas underpin the approaches to teaching for constructive learning across the curriculum which form the basis for the rest of the book. Firstly, however, to understand the significance of constructivist ideas about teaching and learning it is helpful to compare ideas about positivism and constructivism as contrasting models of how we interpret the world.
