ABSTRACT
As outlined in the introduction, the purpose of this book is to demonstrate how primary science can be harnessed to support environmental education with the aim of producing environmentally literate, caring and responsible adults. These qualities are a prerequisite for a society that has any chance of achieving sustainability and long-term survival. And achieving them must be a primary aim of education on a planet which is suffering from ever increasing environmental degradation.
