ABSTRACT

A workshop session. Year 9 pupils have been put into groups for the activity. They are introduced to the science problem and the visiting speaker moves through the group talking to the pupils. One is very difficult to communicate with. She has the name Hayley on her badge. The speaker comments on the difficulty of communicating with Hayley and is told there is no such pupil in the group. Confusion: ‘Who is Hayley and why is she acting in this way?’
