ABSTRACT
It’s hard enough being a parent. Families with children who experience difficulty with their education often have an even tougher time. They have to organise themselves, their work and family commitments to attend meetings, learn the jargon, understand the legalities, help with extra activities and be seen to support their child while meeting the needs of everyone else. Having children with special educational needs potentially puts considerable strain on individuals and on relationships within the family.
