ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the conflicts that can occur between those who prioritize environmental health issues (often called the brown agenda) and those who prioritize ecological sustainability (often called the green agenda) when considering urban development in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It then maps out areas of agreement between these two agendas and discusses the measures that help to encourage the simultaneous achievement of improved environmental health and more ecologically sustainable urban development.
