ABSTRACT

Many companies are finding that by reducing their waste at source they not only improve their environmental performance but also save money. Waste minimisation, through no-cost or low-cost measures, has proven popular and can certainly lead to improvements. However, to make step changes in efficiency and cost savings, investment in cleaner technologies is usually required. By these I mean production technologies that are inherently more efficient and produce less waste than conventional technologies that treat pollution at the ‘end of the pipe’.
