ABSTRACT
During the 1980s and 1990s there were important changes in the mental models and institutional forms for the provision and management of housing in British cities. This chapter discusses these changes through a case study of one local authority. Although the case study is pitched at a local scale, it illustrates impacts of wider economic restructuring and changing relationships between the state, the market and civil society.
