ABSTRACT
Wilbert Mville, a farmer in his mid-30s living in Itulike village in Njombe district of southern Tanzania, has developed a technique for growing maize in pits instead of rows. It is quickly becoming popular in and beyond his village. This chapter describes how he developed the innovation and how he is collaborating with neighbours and scientists in experimentation to explore its merits
