ABSTRACT
Almost ten years have passed since heads of states and governments adopted Agenda 21 at the first Earth Summit in Rio. The last decade of the 20th century was a remarkable period of human history. What has been done to achieve the goals of Agenda 21 at different levels – from local to international – and what are the roadblocks on the way to a sustainable future for the planet?
