ABSTRACT
By the 1970s organizations of evangelical Christians were frequently identified with economic, social and political conservatism. Recognizing this, a younger group met in 1973 in Chicago to try to revitalize a socially progressive evangelicalism. They issued the Declaration below but the political current continued to flow away from them.
