ABSTRACT

A residential building area in Gårdsten, Göteborg, Sweden is being renovated as part of the EU THERMIE project SHINE. 1 The aim is to demonstrate a comprehensive integrated renovation concept, including energy conservation and utilization of solar energy, as well as improved architectural and social conditions, making the apartment buildings in a typical 1970s residential building area more attractive. The building area, owned by the municipal housing company Bostads AB Gårdsten, comprises 1000 apartments in three- to five-storey concrete-panel buildings, of which the SHINE project covers 172 of 255 apartments in three blocks.
