ABSTRACT

The aim of this work is to model and study the dynamic interaction of the fluid flow with the structure which occurs when the blades of a wind turbine are passing in front of (or possibly behind) the tower. In order to capture the whole complexity of this phenomenon, the full unsteady Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible fluid are used as a model. A new computational technique is described. For the sake of simplicity, we restrict ourselves to two-dimensional cases. The present methodology is illustrated by the computation of a wind turbine-like configuration in a periodic domain.
