Interconnection of Heterogeneous Control and Monitoring Devices at the Euclides Solar PV Concentration Plant in Tenerife

The EUCLIDES PV Concentration Plant is a grid connected system that delivers 480 kW_p output by means of an array of inverters. In order to control and assess the operation of the plant, as well as to enhance the local grid signal quality, a large network sensors, transducers, microcontrollers and PCs has been set up. All of them are linked together by a field bus with a specifically developed communications protocol aimed at smoothly interconnecting very heterogeneous devices. All elements of the EUCLIDES plant are connected to the EUCLIDES field bus, allowing operational control of the plant as well as the observance and recording of several different working magnitudes. The whole system covers the following: Grid Connecting Inverters, Tracking Systems, Weather Station & Central Command and Monitoring Station.
