ABSTRACT

Drinking water and waste water treatment is an essential concern for rural communities. Power supply of installation is one of the main problems to solve in rural zone where water treatment plants are often remote from the grid. The use of renewable energies could be an interesting way to ensure the growth of these installations. As concerns drinking water, some surveys show that needs are still important in rural zone, even if many realisations supplied by renewable energies already exist. Regarding purification, few installations have been achieved, although renewable energies could allow to fit with adapted systems some rural communities or could improve the working of some existing systems.
