ABSTRACT

The idea of this study comes up as a back-up system for a rural zone that is also end of line, and where the quality of the electricity is far from good: so frequent voltage drops appear all the day long. Grid-connected PV generation has several characteristics which are well suited to power systems applications. The main is that voltage drops occurring on heavily loaded lines would be reduced, minimising the need for voltage improvement. The option to decrease the voltage drops, in the evening or during low irradiation, is to integrate batteries into the PV system. With the availability of advanced batteries, it is now possible to store large amount of energy during off-peak periods of the day and use during the peak periods for load levelling.
