ABSTRACT
IBERDROLA developed a 3.3 kWp mobile unit for the supply of photovoltaic energy in order to demonstrate the versatility and applicability of solar photovoltaic energy in isolated areas. After three years of performance, in which operation conditions and manoeuvrability were studied, a new model has been made in order to improve some aspects of the first prototype. The new project consists of a 1.5 kWp portable photovoltaic system in which one of the most important aspects is its design, which facilitates its transfer by any conveyance. Due to its small dimensions and weight, this system is suited to be moved even by plane. This system has been developed in order to allow electricity to be supplied to remote customers under service conditions equivalent to those provided by the grid, this being accomplished in the shortest time thanks to the ease with which the system is transported and installed. In this way, IBERDROLA is able to contribute to the development of renewable energy sources and to care for the environment.
