ABSTRACT

A simulation procedure, based on suitable daily profiles of irradiance, allows to analyse grid connected PV systems with both crystalline and amorphous silicon modules. These profiles of irradiance are identified by a shape factor which takes into account deviations from sinusoidal profile. As a test bench, the simulation is applied to an operating grid connected PV plant (12 kWp). The matching between experimental data and simulation results, on daily basis, is adequate for DC and AC energy (5%). Therefore, good accuracy can be obtained for the determination of the performance ratio, because the losses due to over-temperatures on PV modules and due to DC/AC conversion are calculated taking into account the peak value of irradiance, besides the mean value.
