ABSTRACT

An effort has been made to assess the impact of 112 PV demonstration projects from the THERMIE programme 1992-1997. The IMPACT is assessed on 6 themes: Industrial impact. Markets, Programme interactions. Awareness, Clustering, co-operation and linkages, and Technology and innovations. This paper mirrors the executive summary of the report of that assessment, including lessons learnt and recommendations. The THERMIE projects have had a significant impact on the market penetration, the industry development, the technical innovations, and the clustering and co-operation between actors. The IMPACT methodology proved to be a valuable tool for extending monitoring of projects and programmes beyond the realm of proposers into the world of the target groups.
