ABSTRACT

The PV users association SEBA carried on a survey to know the user's point of view about PV technology in stand-alone systems. In this paper, the authors present a summary of the most significant answers, the differences between the users groups and some conclusions about the user's believes referring to the role of the user's associations for satisfying system operation. The clearest conclusion is a global positive assessment of the PV systems in three qualities: fulfilment of their electrical needs, system reliability and easiness of use. A significant majority of users would rather use the PV system than a possible electrical connection to the public grid, and they consider their system as a definitive and not a provisional solution. A significant difference is that the members of a user's association in general are more satisfied with their PV system than the individual users.
