ABSTRACT

Scope of this work is the development of an integral solution for irrigation and cooling applications in agricultural areas, located far away from the public electric grid. By the use of renewable energies in windy or sunny areas a simple, cheap and reliable irrigation(pumping) or cooling(refrigerating) systems can be applied, avoiding the disadvantages of the already existed diesel-powered systems. Other applications e.g. solar powered road lighting or solar water purification systems will be also considered. Target area are the islands of the department of Lesvos. Greece. A database including meteorological data, system components and contacts to manufacturers and local sellers was set up. Financial and legal aspects were investigated and recorded. A pre-sizing software tool for small autonomous PV an wind plants was programmed.
