ABSTRACT
The Photovoltaic Market Transformation Initiative (PVMTI) is an initiative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to accelerate the sustainable commercialisation and financial viability of solar photovoltaic-based energy services in India, Kenya and Morocco. In Morocco the PVMTI program has attracted a number of Solar Home Systems (SHS) projects because of the existing favourable conditions for their implementation. This paper presents these conditions and shows how the PVMTI program intends to finance large-scale use of Solar Home Systems while making it a profitable business for dedicated private firms in Morocco.
