ABSTRACT
The fieldwork in Photovoltaic (PV) rural electrification programmes shows that many technical problems are still present in the operation of PV systems and, also, that are mainly related with local aspects. In this paper, a PV stand-alone systems qualification testing procedure is proposed, which has been developed in combination with a previously technical standard, widely distributed. The resulting methodology can be reproduced in local environment and guarantees safety, reliability and good operation of Solar Home Systems. Now, our laboratory can certificate the fulfilment of the Universal Technical Standard for SHS in PV components and full systems and offers, until June 2001, free testing to all organisations or manufacturers interested.
