ABSTRACT

Accurate methods for measuring and predicting the performance of PV concentrator modules under real time circumstances are needed for qualification and rating of systems as well as for comparison to equivalently rated flat plate systems. Several groups have proposed energy rating models for flat plat modules. These rating methods require accurate models for module performance under a wide and complete variety of operating conditions. Extensions of these models to tracking systems and concentrators systems have been also considered. The purpose of his work is to propose a suitable method to measure and rate concentrator modules given that the modules cannot in general be measured indoors under controlled conditions because of their size and the unavailability of laboratory collimated light of sufficient intensity.
