ABSTRACT
The FUTURA team designed and realised a solar powered vehicle which participated to the DREAM Electro Solar Cup in Japan in August 1999, and to the World Solar Challenge in Australia, October 1999. FUTURA2 represents an evolution of the first model, based on the experience built up during the edition 1997. The PV power system was realised by EUROSOLARE S.p.A. in the pilot line of the R&D unit. An eight month programme was set up to improve the standard production process to fulfil the tight specifications of a solar car, that is high power, low weight, reliable encapsulation and easy assembly.
