ABSTRACT

The utero placental blood flow index in 8 patients showing intra uterine growth retardation was 75% less than that in a control group of 11 women with normal pregnancies. The method described permits the determination of utero placental blood volume. A Utero placental blood flow index was measured in human subjects, using Indium transferrin as blood pool label. Levy O. M. et al Tc-Pertechnetate blood pool imaging for 1-2 minutes post injection show unilateral absence of spermatic arterial flow in the first transit scintigrams of patients with acute testicular torsion. Delayed images show a discrete defect within the scrotal blood pool. In study of patients with renal insufficiency abnormal uptake of Tc-pertechnetate was observed in the salivary glands, choroid plexus even after prior administration of perchlorate. The error in GER is due to protein binding, as we have shown by direct measurement. When Tc-DTPA is used to measure GFR, the in vivo protein binding should be measured, used to correct data.
