ABSTRACT

Aarhus is the second largest town in Denmark. Århus sporveje is its public bus service. Economies and internal reorganisations have therefore been a major task in the 1980s. About 1980 the situation was therefore that the basic product with routes and time tables was sound and competitive. However, the worked-up motivation for changes allowed the reader to take stock of the situation and opened for innovations. The information level of public bus services is normally rather low. It is static, impersonal and does not give individual advice. Routes and time tables alone do not make a human transport. Time tables are issued and at best the bus stops are fitted with times of departure. The goal has been to offer a transport service to wheel-chair users which is as close as possible to public bus service.
