ABSTRACT

Community transport operators in the UK provide a range of passenger services within different organisational structures. Services include group hire, dial-a-ride, dial-a-bus, social car and vehicle brokerage. These services may be provided by organisations which are sections within local authorities or public transport executives or by independent voluntary organisations, charities, or limited companies. Many of them offer more than one service to their users, that is to say that a single organisation may provide group hire, dial-a-bus and dial-a-ride services, possibly using some vehicles for more than one service.
