ABSTRACT
Most nation-states have a network of organizations that establishes or maintains a wide variety of institutionalized links between regions, between urban and rural populations, and between various social groups. In the twentieth century rural-urban culture contact has become increasingly prominent and complex in most states, as population groups have been brought into a common national fold in decisive ways. 1
