ABSTRACT

The term growth hormone deficiency should be restricted to children who have deletion of the GH gene. GH secretion is otherwise continuous from very small children growing very slowly to very tall children who become tall by growing quickly. Any child given growth hormone will grow more quickly but the prognosis for final height is determined by growth status or the start of treatment and the vigour with which treatment is applied.
