ABSTRACT
The theme of Musicultura l974 is the confrontation between the musical cultures of the Far East and the West. The underlying idea is that this confrontation is taking place on a worldwide scale. Consequently, this project, which will be spread out over several years, will bring together composers, performers and scholars of very different backgrounds, each having their own methods of addressing the subject. But, all are involved with the issue in one way or another. This is the experimental aspect of the project. Besides having a common interest, we must also find a common base, and, if possible, a common terminology.
