ABSTRACT

CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) activities have been in use in second language (L2) language learning classrooms since the early eighties. But gone are the days of plain vanilla CALL with the advent of computers networked worldwide via the Internet. Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) via a second language for second language learning purposes has been practised ever more extensively over the past two or three years as computer facilities decrease in price and become more commonly available in university and private sector adult language centres, and even in primary and secondary schools.
