ABSTRACT

Computing has been used in France since the early 1970s. This chapter is not intended to give an academic account of what has been done since then, one reason being that the author does not have access to official information on these matters. Instead the author shows, from a personal approach, how computing has been introduced and received by the ordinary teacher, how teachers have managed to use it with pupils and how he sees the present situation. Faced with so many changes to come (including mass teaching and new technologies) teachers must concentrate on the specific role of computers in their classroom.
