ABSTRACT

Christopher Bannerman is Professor of Dance at Middlesex University, where he is head of the School of Dance. Of Canadian origin, he trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance and is a practising dancer and choreographer. A great supporter of South Asian dance, which made an everlasting impression on him when he had the chance to see the great Bharata Natyam dancer Balasaraswati in performance, in 1993 he introduced at Middlesex University a South Asian Dance module. It has been very successful with the students and will continue to be offered in the next academic years.
