ABSTRACT
The contributions of Harry Partch to the music of the twentieth century are many and manifold. Not the least important are the innovations he carried through in the instrumentation of his music. From the beginning on he worked with musical instruments of his own design (and building), or at least with thoroughly adapted existing instruments. These unique instruments are so well-known nowadays that they need not be described here.
