ABSTRACT

Intellectual property refers to any product that results from the creativity and innovation of the human mind and the original expression of those ideas (Stim, 2000; Ronkainen and Guerrero-Cusumano, 2001; Luckenbill and Miller, 1998). In other words, intellectual property covers just about every possible idea or invention from the arts and literary fields (i.e., books, photographs, recordings, choreography, etc.) to science and technology. Intellectual property right laws in the U.S. grant the exclusive ownership and rights to use, produce, and distribute creative work to the creator or author.
