ABSTRACT

Countries of the world supported America's action in Afghanistan as a response to the September 11 al-Qaeda attacks on America. When one disagrees so strongly with an important policy of any administration, resignation is the honourable action to take. The Dalai Lama identified that the United States (US) must look to the reasons why Osama bin Laden and his network were bringing violence to America. Bin Laden had announced to the world why he was angry with America: US military bases in Saudi Arabia on the "holy land of Islam" and US bias in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In order to lessen anti-American attitudes, American policies in the Middle East, American environmental policies and American consumer attitudes that are harmful to the world must change. While some of the leadership of al-Qaeda may have been captured or killed, the number of foot soldiers in the anti-American war is growing, not decreasing.
