ABSTRACT
Many decisive conditions influencing the careers, choices and interests of researchers will change as the addiction field matures, making it difficult to learn from the life courses of previous researchers. Our older colleagues have met very different challenges than we. The material for this chapter is a set of seven inteviews (M. Douglas Anglin, Walter Clark, Joseph Gusfield, Ragnar Hauge, Harold Holder, Rudy Moos, and Juha Partanen) that feature careers in social science and epidemiology.
