ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book illuminates central processes in Community Music Therapy practice. It describes how two separate microsystems can be linked through music and how this leads to inclusion in a broader community setting. The book discusses how music therapists generate optimal collaborative musicing and suggests that one strategy is "A Complex Attentiveness to the Moment – and 'Doing as Little as Possible'". It also discusses how respect must be performed and suggests that musicing is exemplary of collaborative "respect-inaction". The book also describes how non-conventional forms of participation such as silent participation or eccentric participation may be a resource in the process of building an inclusive social space. It examines the mobilizing of a network of hitherto hidden resources, creating pathways towards the Heideveld Community Concert.
